Manager Sales & Alliance is a broader title than Regional Sales Manager. So from that perspective it is a better position. However it depends on the kind of company you are working for. Feel free to use the contact option in the menu above on this website to reach out and have a private email chat with me about it.

Re: What makes an alliance manager?

Hi Peter, thanks for sharing the wonderful thoughts, just had a quick question fro which I need your help. I agree that trust can be very subjective. This article in fact is already a couple of years online and new articles on trust have appeared. Continueing on his research mentioned above Robert Porter Lynch published an extensive article on trust in te European Business Review, you can find it here: http://europeanbusinessrevi...

Re: Is trust a natural act?

In my view trust can be likened to fuel in a rental car/ vehicle. If it is eroded, and not rebuilt by the responsible person(s) then the relationship vehicle is stalled and there are unsettled matters between the parties in question. Being trusting or otherwise is a matter of temperament that depends on a person's culture, world view and experiences in life. One might find that a person we view as untrustworthy gains our trust with time and vice versa. Like other skills with time, people may learn to know right at the outset who to trust and who to not, in a given context. You could trust someone to drive your car, but not your plane. It is pretty subjective, I think.

Re: What makes an alliance manager?

so true!!!

Re: CBP-25: How Google+ can enable collaboration, with Yifat Cohen

Thanks Warren, glad it was helpful!

Re: CBP-25: How Google+ can enable collaboration, with Yifat Cohen

Thank you for sharing Yifat Cohen and Peter Simoons - much appreciated, very valuable knowledge and insight...

Re: CBP-22: Building a Healthcare business in Africa with York Zucchi

A recent short interview with York and Gibs appeared on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/13E_7Nq0Aaw

Re: CBP-22: Building a Healthcare business in Africa with York Zucchi

York, very good work you're doing in Africa. Even when we all speak English there will be a different understanding depending on your (language) background. So another element to keep in mind when communicating!

Re: Alliance mistake #3: Communication

Mapping the communications is a good point Chris, in the workshops I notice however that many people are not aware of that simple, yet powerful, technique!

Re: Alliance mistake #3: Communication

Thanks Michiel, communication is certainly an issue beyond just alliances and in fact an alliance is a kind of a transformation too!

Re: Alliance mistake #3: Communication

Communication is important in all aspects of life but additionally challenging in an alliance because many individuals are involved, each with an own style and interest.

When I was a key account manager I found it useful to map out the communications that should be happening and score the effectiveness. So unfortunately I can not give you any advice for accommodations. For preparation the first thing that comes to mind is to ensure you have good shoes and practiced on them, make sure they are properly broken in and you are used to the shoes. They will become your best friends :)
Bon Camino!

Re: My road to Santiago

I have decided to walk the Le Puy route, to get a sense of achievement for me, sounds a bit selfish.
